Terms of Service

This service is operated by Nathan Oxier, sole proprietor, in Marysville, Ohio (“the service,” “I,” “me”). Placing an order means you agree to these terms. Questions: researchbriefsbynathanoxier@gmail.com.

What you are buying

• One written research brief, normally 6 to 10 pages, answering one question that you choose and submit at checkout.
• A fixed structure every time: the question, the bottom line, the evidence, what is uncertain, and what it means for you, with sources cited.
• Flat fee of $40 (USD), paid up front through Stripe.
• Delivered as a PDF by email, with a target turnaround of 24 hours from a completed, paid order and a submitted question.
• One revision round, requested within 3 days of delivery, to fill a gap or correct a misread of the question.

Scope and limits

• One clear question per order. “Research my whole industry” is not one question; a specific question about that industry is.
• Public information only. No private, confidential, or paywalled data is obtained or used.
• Not professional advice. Briefs are for general research and do not constitute financial, investment, legal, tax, medical, or other regulated advice, and are not a substitute for a licensed professional.
• The work is AI-assisted — researched with AI tools and reviewed before it is sent. Sources are cited so you can verify anything that matters to a decision.
• Reasonable care is taken, but accuracy and completeness are not guaranteed. You are responsible for how you use a brief.

Turnaround, refunds, and cancellation

• If a brief is not delivered within 72 hours of a completed, paid order (with a usable question submitted), you get a full refund automatically — you do not have to ask.
• Before work has started, you may cancel for a full refund by emailing the address above.
• Once a brief has been delivered, the fee is non-refundable, except that the revision round is available and genuine errors will be corrected.
• Refunds are issued to the original payment method through Stripe.

Your responsibilities

• Submit a lawful question. Orders seeking help with anything illegal, or requesting surveillance or dossiers on private individuals, will be declined and refunded.
• Provide an email address you can receive attachments at.

Intellectual property

On payment, the brief prepared for you is yours to use, share within your organization, and quote with attribution. Third-party sources cited in the brief remain the property of their owners and are subject to their own terms. Underlying methods, templates, and formats remain the property of the service.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the total liability of the service for any claim arising from an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. The service is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including decisions made or not made on the basis of a brief.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Ohio.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the effective date above will change. The terms in force when you place an order are the ones that apply to that order.
